TOKYO (Kyodo) - - The northern Japanese city of Sapporo has chosen to forsake facilitating the 2030 Winter Olympics, various sources with information regarding this situation said Thursday bid.

City chairman Katsuhiro Akimoto is set to meet with Japanese Olympic Board of trustees President Yasuhiro Yamashita in Tokyo on Oct. 11 to affirm the choice.
The move comes in the midst of broad pay off and offer gear embarrassments encompassing the Tokyo Games held in the late spring of 2021 that have soured public opinion toward facilitating the Olympics.
Sapporo, the 1972 host, was once viewed as the leader to have the Colder time of year Olympics briefly time, yet the Worldwide Olympic Council seems to have moved its concentration to different up-and-comers.
There are also growing calls inside Japan for Sapporo's Olympic bid to be pushed back to 2034 or later.
